CAIRO – 26 October 2017: Saul Niguez, left his hometown with a bad taste in his mouth as Atletico Madrid ended its match against Elche with a draw (1-1) in the first leg of the 32nd round in the Spanish Cup (Copa del Rey). Despite living a very special and very emotional match, the former Barcelona player did not like the score.

"I cannot be happy after the match, the image of the team; I think we have to give more than to be self-critical. The team was not as good as we wanted and we have to keep working to improve it," Saul told beIn.

The 22-year-old believes that his team is "lacking that effectiveness facing the goal, which gives the peace to finish the games well. We are not scoring goals and in the end, we suffer," he said.

Saul, who came out in the 58th minute, was the star of the match. Elche gave a Plaque and a shirt to the player from Elche before the start of the game at Martinez Valero stadium to pay tribute to him, since he was in the first team where he was formed.

"I will never forget this day. Coming to my city with the team that has given me everything, which is Atletico, is very emotional," said Saúl; expressing his gratitude to the welcome he received from Elche and the coach’s decision to allow him to play.
